Dentsu London, the same ad agency that recently experimented with iPad light-painting, was recently hired by Canon to create a commercial for the Canon Pixma line of printers. They decided to create super close-up and super slow-mo shots of paint dancing by using sound, and created a rig that spins around the paint super fast to create a sense of motion as they shoot at 5000 fps. As you’ll see from the video, this is a great idea for still photos as well.
The resulting commercial can be seen at the end of the video. It’s stunning.

This is such an awesome idea for coursework.. but it might be hard D: You probably need a really good sound system and really nimble fingers to capture shots that would be pretty amazing. I like how they can use paint and sound waves to combine two forms of the ARTS, music and visual arts.


I thought about combining 3 forms of the ARTS, dance, music and visual arts because I feel comfortable dancing to the music and using this to create art that could be used for my coursework. But then, it could be quite complicated and I probably have to use videos to record down me dancing and painting my coursework and I am not very good at playing around with videos. So this idea will mostly likely be in the back of my head.

I think Sand Art is super-dee-dooper-dee fascinating because you never really know what to expect from the artist. To me, sand is quite a hard medium to work on as it is rather messy so I find artists who can work well with sand really cool and amazing. It is also quite an interesting form of expression and a way to tell the audience a story.

I am not sure if people are trying to make fun of the original work or just trying to make it seem for interesting for younger generations who are hardly interested in traditional art forms anymore.


I guess it is for us to interpret!

HAIR ART!

So today Chiawei and I were discussing how hair can be a form of art after Zhiyi decided to make Zhiping look like a samurai warrior or Madame Matisse in "The Green Stripe" :D She looked totally hilarious by the way! (Let's hope she never sees this! Tee hee! :>)


Anyway, back to main topic: HAIR ART! Can hair styles or designs be a form of ART?! I THINK SO!!

I wonder how people create such intricate designs out of hair. So many designs, so many styles, so many colours, so many textures. I like the animal hair hats the most :D

Can we all this art? Is this hair art? Does that mean that hair stylists are a form of artist in a way that they manipulate hair, the way painters work with paint? I mean, it is unfair to say that people who work with pencils and paint are artists, yet others who can create such beautiful "artworks" are not. Isn't it?

Art from War!

Heh! Today I visited Kranji War Memorial to better understand the conditions during WWII and to appreciate the sacrifice of both civilians and soldiers of many nations.


My group facilitator mentioned about a soldier, Stanley Warren, who painted the Changi Murals. And I thought it would be cool to check him out! (not in ... that way... I meant on Google!)


Stanley Warren is a bombardier of the 15th Regiment of the Royal Regiment of Artillery, who is known for painting the Changi murals at a chapel during is internment in Chanji Prison during WWII. His five murals on the walls of St Luke's Chapel depicts the biblical scenes of the Nativity, the Ascension, Crucifixion, Last Supper and Saint Luke in prison. His murals were completed under difficult conditions of sickness, limited materials and hardships. With a message of universal love and forgiveness, they helped to uplift the spirits of the POWs and sick when they sought refuge in the prison chapel.


After the war, the walls of the chapel were distempered over, hiding the murals from view. They were forgotten until its rediscovery in 1958. Due to their historical significance, an international search was conducted to locate the original painter in helping to restore the partially damaged and faded murals. Stanley was eventually found in 1959 and, after much persuasion, agreed to assist in the restoration project. He made three trips to Singapore between 1963 to 1988 to restore his former paintings. Due to Stanley's advanced age, only four of the original murals were fully restored. In the 1990s, the former site of the murals was gazetted as a Heritage Site by the National Heritage Board of Singapore.

POPSICLE STICKS!

An artwork can come from the simple and cheap things! Like popsicle sticks! They can be used in many many many ways! They can be used to construct cool and amazing artworks!


They can MAGICALLY TURN INTO:

Purse/basket!

Houses!

Lamps!

Boat!

Or just something you can put up on your wall!

Don't all these look cool?! And they don't look super duper hard to make!! :D

I bought some colourful popsicle sticks! Maybe I will just use my CREATIVITY and BRILLIANCE to create something just as FANTASTIC! ^-^ That is if I have time! If I really do it, I will take a photo and post it up here!! ><"|

I think food art is really cool! Loads of people have done it before :D And their artworks always look really pretty!!
